DMX
Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 until April 9 2021) who was professionally known as DMX, was an American actor and rapper. He started rapping in the beginning of the 1990s. He released the album debut It's Dark and Hell is Hot in 1998, to the delight of critics and commercial success. He sold over 251,000 copies in the first week of its release. The best-selling album of DMX,... and Then There Was X, was released in 1999. The album featured the hit single "Party Up (Up in Here). His 2003 singles "Where is the Hood At?" His 2003 singles, "Where the Hood at?" and "X Gon Making It To Ya" were commercially successful. The artist was the first in history to have an album debut that reached No.1 in the Billboard 200 charts five times consecutively. [7] DMX sold more than 74 million albums in the world. 8. DMX has appeared in films like Belly, Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds. In 2006, he starred in the reality series DMX: Soul of a Man which was broadcast on the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. He wrote E.A.R.L., his memoirs in 2003. : The Autobiography of DMX. 9 DMX started his career in the world of music at 14 in 1984 when he beatboxed on behalf of Ready Ron. After being sentenced for the theft of the dog, he started to compose lyrics of his own. He also performed at a community recreation center that was for kids who were younger than 14. In 1988, while in prison for carjacking, he started dedicating a large portion of his spare time writing lyrics , as well as performing with K-Solo. After being released that summer He began making and selling his own mixtapes where he rapped over music from other songs. He also sold them on streets, which helped him build a fan base locally across New York. DMX performed on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991 with Percee P who they both performed freestyles. [15] DMX was soon to release a demo cassette featuring "Spellbound" along with "Critical Condition", Three Little Pigs", The Original Author of Spellbound as well as "Unstoppable Force" later in the year. The design was like Big Daddy Kane's style and Rakim's, yet it was distinct from his later work. Three years ago, The Source magazine praised DMX for his Unsigned Hype column, which featured hip hop artists that were not signed. The same year, Columbia Records signed DMX to its subsidiary label Ruffhouse Records, which released the debut single "Born Loser". In 1994, he dropped "Make A Move" the second single from his debut album. He made a guest appearance with Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and Mic Geronimo on the classic underground track "Time to Build" on Mic Geronimo's debut album in 1995.DMX passed away on the 9th of April 2021 after suffering an induced heart attack by cocaine.
